OUR STORY

ONE OF NATURES LITTLE SURPRISES

'Miracle on the Wire' is an exciting new organic brand from Zeals Vineyard Pty Ltd. This brand has been developed with a focus on showcasing our beautiful farming land, natural environment, wildlife habitats that exist within our vineyards and organic practices which encourage good health to the consumer.

Nature is a very curious and amazing thing and as vineyard owners, in the Central Ranges wine district, we are constantly surprised how our vines can perform each year in such stressful conditions, with little to no rain.

"Miracle on the Wire" refers to the tiny bunches of grapes that form on our vine each year, as well as the sighting of a Blue Wren perched up on the wires of our Zeals Vineyard, as this is usually a sign of coming rain and good fortune.

HEALTHY, NATURAL, VINEYARD PRACTICES

NATURE PREVAILS WITH SUSTAINABLE FARMING PRACTICES.

At Gulgong NSW, in the Central Ranges wine district, we have adopted NASAA certified organic farming practices being the key to maintaining soil health. Our vineyard is not degraded through the constant application of non-degradable inputs, therefore retaining natural soil health and providing longer-term sustainability to the vineyard. The Organic certification ensures the absence of conventional pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and synthetic fertilisers in the grape growing/winemaking processes.

Our vineyard soil types are deeper, fertile red loam over a medium clay with a sprinkle of quartz stone ridges across the block. The age of the established vineyard is approaching 22-year-old. Our aim is to maintain healthy soils through using only organic certified products and grape compost throughout the vineyard, conserving water usage, preserving local ecosystems and wildlife habitat throughout the vineyard. In return, our Vineyard delivers vibrant crops with rich, generous fruit flavour, balanced tannins and natural acidity.

Each autumn we introduce a flock of sheep into the vineyard which assists with weed and grass control in the most sustainable way possible whilst adding sheep manure as extra natural fertiliser along the way.

Nature is very curious and amazing, and as organic vineyard owners, we are constantly surprised how our vines can perform each year with such minimal intervention!

90 Pts – NED GOODWIN Master of Wine

Sourced from the altitudinal Central Ranges around Mudgee. The range is certified organic, holistically incorporating vineyard management and winemaking. Merlot, too often a less-than-inspiring variety on Australian shores, seems to be in the right hands here. Satsuma plum, anise and a verdant swathe of structure serves a medium-bodied, sassy red. Growing with stature in the glass, a plume of coffee bean tannins finishes the ride

91 Pts – NED GOODWIN Master of Wine

This is a plump, pulpy and gently spicy red of effusive joy. Drink in large drafts on the cooler side! A whole-berry fermentation serves to tone acidity and soothes the tannin quotient, moulding this medium-bodied red into a potion of imminent drinkability. Juicy and akin to warm-climate Beaujolais. Stellar value.

Fermented uncrushed, this is a dangerously easy cab. to drink. Again, I suggest on the cooler side in large vessels! Black and red currant, both. A sachet of sage and thyme. Bouquet garni.
